According to a recent article in Senior Housing News, experienced industry leaders expect new operators to take some time getting acclimated to the senior housing environment, especially to the differences in operations and resources that senior housing communities require.
Blue Moon Capital Partners’ Kathryn A. Sweeney commented that growing pains could result in stricter regulations, or, worse, in harm to residents, and that “cycle-testing” new entrants is crucial to the conversation between old and new.
Long-term, however, an influx of new interest bodes well, with savvy newcomers offering fresh perspectives that could benefit the industry. Those who don’t succeed may offer buying opportunities for more seasoned members down the road.
