Skilled nursing facilities in rural communities can now apply for funds to improve their technology infrastructure. With the passage of the Rural Health Care Connectivity Act on June 8, 2016, healthcare providers can apply for support from the Rural Health Care Program.
Improved broadband and telecommunications technologies will enable geographically isolated healthcare organizations to provide better services to their patients. Rural healthcare providers are hopeful that funding will help them afford the resources more common in urban areas.
